TITLE III - DEFINITIONS

SECTION A - WHAT COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TOOLS ARE

  1. Cookies.

They may be defined as follows: “text strings that websites (so-called Publishers, or “first parties”) visited by the user or different websites or web servers (so-called “third parties”) place and store – directly, in the case of publishers, and indirectly, that is, through the latter, in the case of “third parties” - within a terminal device (that is, a computer, a tablet, a smartphone, or any other device capable of storing information) available to the User themself”.

The information encoded in cookies may collect personal data, such as an IP address, a User name, a unique identifier or an email address, but may also contain non-personal data, such as language settings or information about the type of device that a person is using to browse the website.

Therefore, through cookies it is possible to: 1) allow, among other things, web pages to load more quickly, route information across a network - therefore, in line with requirements strictly connected to the operation of websites themselves, 2) deliver behavioural advertising (so-called “behavioural advertising”) and then measure the effectiveness of the advertising message, or adapt the type and manner of the services provided to the behaviour of the User previously observed.

  1.  Other tracking tools.

they may be defined as follows: passive identifiers that make it possible to carry out processing similar to those indicated above. These include fingerprinting, “that is, the technique that allows the device used by the user to be identified through the collection of all or some of the information relating to the specific configuration of the device itself adopted by the data subject. This technique may be used for achieving the same profiling purposes aimed also at displaying personalized behavioural advertising and at analysing and monitoring the behaviour of visitors to websites, or at adapting the type and manner of the services provided to the behaviour of the user previously observed”.

This website uses cookies exclusively; therefore, this notice will be limited to the latter.

SECTION B - CLASSIFICATION OF COOKIES

Cookies may have different characteristics and, therefore, different classifications:

- From a temporal standpoint, considering them based on their duration, they are distinguished into Session Cookies (they last until your internet browser is closed) or Persistent Cookies (they are constant and continue to operate after the User’s browser has been closed, e.g. the cookie for language selection, which allows the User, on future visits, to be automatically directed to the website in the chosen language).

- From the standpoint of origin, from a subjective point of view, cookies are distinguished into First-Party Cookies (they are sent to the User’s browser directly from the website being visited, and belong to it) or Third-Party Cookies (they belong to domains different from the one shown in the address bar, that is, different from the Website being visited).

- from the standpoint of the purpose (that is, based on the use) of the processing of personal data, they are distinguished into Technical Cookies (they are used for browsing the web page and do not require users’ consent), Statistical Cookies (used for website optimization purposes, directly by the Owner of the website itself, who may collect information in aggregate form on the number of users and on how they visit the website), Marketing and profiling cookies (advertising cookies, intended to provide advertising spaces. They may be installed by the Owner of the website or by third parties only after obtaining the user’s consent; they may be sent to the User’s browser by third-party companies, directly from their websites, for their own purposes, possibly also profiling purposes).
